Tuesday’s… The second day of the week that can be just as hard as Monday’s. But you know what can help make your Tuesday better? Makeup! And what’s better than a review to give you an excuse to go buy some?
With summer here and holidays and festivals in everyones sights it’s always good to keep our skin hydrated and making sure that our makeup doesn’t go to waste by sliding off our faces… Not a god look. Today I have three products I would like to talk about, and ones you have probably heard a lot of talk about.
Number 1: Benefit’s Dew The Hoola.
This product is supposed to give you a natural sun kissed glow, no holiday needed! The instructions say that you can use by itself to create a natural glow or use on top of foundation to add some tan to your makeup. As I do not use foundation I mix it with my moisturiser to create my very own tinted moisturiser. I find it makes it a lot less orange and a lot more light weight. Even though the product already is incredibly light weight, I do not like heavy creams or makeup product because I hate the look for a caked face. But, other than that I am absolutely in love with it! It does truest give you a sun kissed look but not look like you’ve been hit in the face with a fake tan mitt. It just gives a subtle hint of tan and doesn’t smell too bad either! I defiantly recommend this if you’re not a big fan of powdered blushers but still want that glow. Dew The Hoola is currently selling for £22.50 – but I purchased it at the airport and paid £19 (ever penny counts!)
Number 2: YSL’s Blur Primer. Something I was seeing a lot of hype about all over blogs and review pages online. Plus, it looks like something a princess would wear (so why wouldn’t you want it?!) The blur primer is something of my dreams, it feels like velvet on your face and has no smell. It is also aimed at all skin types. Yep, you heard me right! ALL skin types. I find some products are some specific and are for either sensitive skin, or oily skin or just normal. This product is for everyone which makes it so much better, can now anyone can feel like a velvety princess! I use this on top of my moisturiser and Dew The Hoola to help prevent any of my makeup moving plus it makes my skin feel like clouds. When I was speaking the the lady at the YSL desk in boots she explained to me that I shouldn’t worry about looking like a sparkly vampire after applying, the glitter inside the primer isn’t actually that visible – and she was right. You can hardly see it, but it does add a natural glow and a slight look as thought you have added an illuminator to your face. Making my skin look so fresh! The only down side about the product is it’s price, currently on the market for £29.50 (ouch). But, you hardly need any. Half a pump covered my whole face so Im sure i’ll have this bottle for a very long time!
Number 3: Urban Decay’s De-Slick makeup setting spray for oily skin. Setting spray seems to be something that has came around within a flash of an eye and now everyone needs it – including me. My first setting was £3, from MUA. I found that the only thing it kept in place was my eye shadow, not sure why but that’s not the only thing I wanted to stay on my face after a long day or night out. So I done my research and the only ones that seemed to be any good and do what they actually say on the bottle was Clarins setting spray and Urban decay’s. Both are marketed at £22, but I wasn’t willing to pay that straight away on something that might not actually work, so when I saw that Urban Decay did a small version I was sold. The smaller bottle is £9, much better! The first time I used it was on Saturday, me and my friends went to EDC festival and this was going to be the ultimate test. Festivals are hot, sweaty, it could have possibly rained, and just generally wearing a full face of makeup from 8am until 2am the next day… I was putting this to the test, big time. So, I sprayed it on, it 4 downward strokes at half an arm length from my face and then let it dry. Through out the day i got very hot and also rather drunk, so that can always put your makeup through some trying times. Then the end of the night came and I got home and went straight to bed, I completely forgot about taking off my makeup and fell straight to sleep. When I woke up the next morning the first thing I did was look at my face. All I can say is it was pretty much all still there! My eyebrows hadn’t moved and neither had my base face or eyeshadow. I was very impressed and still am. This is deffo worth the money and as soon as this one run out i’ll be buying the full version.
Love, Molly xo
